Colour Obstacle Rush UK!

By Kirsty Braik-Scivyer · On January 11, 2018

Here at the DC  we’re all about healthy living, being active and making the most of each day so having said that when we do fundraising we like to think outside the box! This year we’re entering COR, or Color Obstacle Rush and can’t wait to have fun while raising much-needed funds towards official charity registration.

If you’ve not heard of COR then where have you been? It’s only the most colourful fun run around and is perfect for those, like myself, who prefer to focus on the fun side of things. Now in its 4th year, COR UK has already seen over 200,000 people run, walk, climb, bounce, crawl and dance their way through a 5k obstacle course with a difference!

Held at Kempton Park Racecourse, June’s event is sure to be an amazing experience filled with coloured powder, giant inflatable tubes, huge space hoppers and so much more. Each year a few more surprises get thrown in and while the organisers have kept the big stuff a secret, they have let on that there’s going to be a whole new set of inflatables, as well as multi-coloured slides, a massive water balloon fight and a sponge ball ocean.

If that’s not enough there are a bunch of music zones, a super cool chill out area, a festival ‘jungle’ village and the appearance of ‘colour from the sky’. In short, COR isn’t your average fun run. In fact, it’s more like a music festival fused with a kids birthday party with a ton of rainbow stardust scattered over everything!

Everyone’s welcome and you certainly don’t need to be an athlete to take part although some inflatables will have a weight limit but most are fairly robust. We can’t promise that the sun’ll be shining but there’s something liberating about messing around in the pouring summer rain isn’t there? As you can imagine we at the DC are pretty excited about taking part and are hoping to raise a large amount of money towards official charity registration. So if you’re interested in taking part or even running on behalf of the Dementia Cafe then please do get in touch!

All ‘Rushers’ as they’re known receive a free Color Obstacle Rush T-shirt to run in, a personal colour packet and finisher’s medal as well as an info pack once you’ve registered to collect on the day. It’s a good idea to wear comfy clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit scruffy as while the ‘colour’ is basically dyed corn starch it may stain light, or delicate fabrics.

Color Obstacle Rush is a fantastic day out for friends, family and loved ones as not only are you doing something totally different, it’s a brilliant way to get fit without having to take things too seriously! It’s very social media friendly and you can be sure that lots of people will bring go pros, selfie sticks and cameras to film all the action on the big day.

The beauty of COR is that while they do have their chosen charities you can run for anything, and anyone you like as long as you pay the thirty-pound entrance fee. You can run alone, in couples or in a team like the DC crew are and if you book early enough you’ll receive a discount too! So if you’ve been wondering how to make a difference in 2018 here’s your answer.

All that’s left to be said is this:
